Morning:

OnGuard toothpaste

Bathroom diffusing peppermint and wild orange

Hydrating cream on my face

Choice of Pure-fume applied on pulse points (alternating between my faves - Neroli Touch, Jasmine Touch, Balance, Rose Touch, Magnolia touch)

Swipe of Balance deodorant

Turning on main floor diffuser (typically diffusing a mint and citrus combo)

Warm water with 2 drops of lemon

2 drops of Yarrow Pom in a capsule (balancing hormones).

1-2 drops each of Frankincense and Copaiba under my tongue (helps with anxious feelings).

Lifelong vitality vitamins and Mito2Max with a later breakfast (basically this is the foundation of your health)! Energy, clearer thinking and better quality of sleep!

Kiddos

Daily dose of A2Z chewable and IQ Mega (kids vitamins) and probiotic after breakfast.

Alternating between OnGuard Touch and Stronger (from the kids collection) on the bottom of their feet and along the spine.

A quick spray of the anti-lice spray on their hair before drop off.

The Routine:

Tuesday’s, Wednesday’s and Thursday’s are my dedicated work days. Head down, in my office - oils diffusing and typically I use InTune blend, Thinker blend or Past Tense to promote focus and clarity.

Monday’s and Friday’s I’m in mom mode spending time with my youngest and doing the nap-time hustle (getting the most important things done while she naps!).

Before school pick up, I’m refilling my diffuser (typically with OnGuard as the base). My little man has with him during the day, the Brave and Thinker rollerballs from the kids collection in his backpack and uses them during the day. He’s also got his own nasal inhaler for promoting calmness (he loves Serenity and Balance).

As a mama, there’s nothing better than teaching your littles how to feel empowered themselves.

Evenings

We go into relaxation mode. Kiddos occasionally bathe with Epsom salts and lavender (or other oils as needed). Serenity bath bar used for the kids at bath.

Bedtime diffuser blends for kiddos is our own blend of bergamot, cedarwood, copaiba and juniper berry (changed up if they aren’t feeling well and then it’s suited to their needs).

My personal bedtime routine - shower and diffuse balance, using the balance bath bar, Verage skincare line followed by alternating between Yarrow Pom on my face and frankincense mixed with the hydrating cream. Replenishing body butter also applied after the shower.

Take PB assist before heading to bed.

Copaiba softgel about half hour before bed if I’ve got a lot on my mind and diffusing Breathe and Cedarwood.

Hubby works 24 hour shifts as a firefighter so before a shift he’ll take a serenity softgel to help him get a really great nights rest.

DoTERRA hasn’t only provided us with a high vibe lifestyle and the best of what nature can offer us in supporting our physical, emotional and spiritual health. It’s allowed us to be present with one another and allows me to focus on work that lights me up while also doing my most important work - being a mama to my two littles. Both the products and the business have been LIFE CHANGING for our family and I want others to feel as empowered as we do!

Where to start? I love oils. It didn’t start that way though. There was once a time when even adding a drop of lemon to my water seemed like a daunting task – though more so, it seemed, well, out of the ordinary let’s say. How could adding one drop of lemon taste like or better than a squeeze of “lemon juice” from that wonderfully convenient plastic lemon shaped thingy – I mean, that is lemon juice right? Right? Maybe. I don’t really know. Though what I do know is opening my mind to trying something new, opened my world to a whole new possibility of experiencing life and obtaining optimal health.

What started as one single drop of lemon to freshen up my water, turned into a daily routine that I look forward to from sun up to sun down – and even while I’m sleeping.

So, let’s get down to the nitty gritty and check out my favourite oils.

When I wake up, I brush my teeth with OnGuard ® Toothpaste. If it’s a shower day, I’ll jump in and lather up with Salon Essentials ® Protecting Shampoo & Smoothing Conditioner. Hair, Face and Body. My curls love this stuff and my beard looks healthier than ever – and it smells amazing.

After jumping out of the shower – yes, I only shower because I have yet to find a bathtub big enough to relax in. Seriously though, tubs are tiny. Every time I sit in one, I feel like I’m squeezing into one of those tiny classic student desk chairs on parent teacher night. But I digress. I jump out of the shower, dry off, apply my Natural Deodorant with dōTERRA Balance, shave and trim my beard and work in my own Outdoor Enthusiast Beard Oil, which consists of Arborvitae, Cedarwood, Frankincense and Hawaiian Sandalwood in a carrier oil mixture of sweet almond oil and coconut oil. It’s amazing! This super beard blend, I’ll work into my beard before I go for my 20km trail run (which I try to do at least 3 times a week from Spring to Fall) – No bugs, no problem. Just a wonderfully grounding sent that I use to keep my focus on a longer run and, more generally, I use it every day. For any situation.

While I’m on the topic of running, I’ll also bring with me my running pack that I can stuff full of goodies. And this applies to cycling as well – though I’ll stuff my goodies in my jersey or saddle bag - especially if I’m doing more than a 20k run or a 60k cycle. My bag of goodies includes:

  • 2 water bottles with 2 drops of Lemon in each, to aid with inflammation.

  • dōTERRA Peppermint Beadlets, to give me a burst of energy half way through my longer runs.

  • dōTERRA Touch ® Peppermint Roller bottle, to roll on and again give me burst of energy and clear my airways helping me breathe more efficiently.

  • Deep Blue ® Rub, because it’s like “Franks Red Hot” and I put that, uh, “stuff” on everything. It’s an absolute must have for everybody. Whether you’re out on the trail for a 2-hour run or stuck at a desk for an 8-hour work day, our muscles get sore and this is the perfect relief from any aches and pains.

  • On Guard ® Mist to cleanse your hands because you never know what friendly wet dog’s you’ll meet on the trail. And they usually like to get as muddy as I do.

  • dōTERRA Baby Diaper Rash Cream to help soothe and protect any areas that succumbed to chafing along the run.

After my run, I’ll make a shake consisting of pineapple, kale, lemon and mint. And because the lemon and mint are usually the first to go, I can substitute in 1 drop of Lemon and Peppermint should I need to.

Now that I’ve got my recovery shake in me, I can take my daily supplements.

Including:

  • dōTERRA Vegan Life Long Vitality Pack: Alpha CRS®+, xEO Mega®, and Microplex VMz® to provide me with the essential nutrients required for optimal health, energy, and, well, vitality.

  • Deep Blue Polyphenol Complex ® to aid with inflammation.

  • OnGuard ® + Soft gels for a preemptive strike on anything my kids might bring home from school by aiding in immune support.

  • Copaiba Soft gels to help support my nervous and cardiovascular systems particularly. I’ve found that it does wonders for my anxiety and restlessness, especially when I’m unable to go out for a run – for whatever reason.

If I’m working or researching, I have my tote bag that holds my Emotional Aromatherapy TM Touch roller bottles, plus others.

Including:

  • dōTERRA Cheer® Touch for positivity.

  • dōTERRA Console® Touch for comfort.

  • dōTERRA Forgive® Touch for relief and patience.

  • dōTERRA Motivate® Touch for confidence and courage.

  • dōTERRA Passion® Touch for excitement and passion.

  • dōTERRA Peace® Touch for composure.

  • dōTERRA Hope Touch for an uplifting scent, though more importantly, supports efforts to fight sex-trafficking around the world. And as a Gender and Womens’s Studies Major, this is my jam – or rather, my oil.

Whether I had a long day of running, parenting, researching, working or whatever, I close off the night with a drop of Serenity ® that I work into my beard and helps soothe my mind as I drift off to sleep – which I’ve been told is right as soon as my head hits the pillow. Serenity holds a special place in my heart, and not simply because it seems to be my “magical sleep aid”.

Now of all these oils, which is my favorite. If we were playing the lonely island game and I could only bring one oil to it, which would I bring? At one point in time I would say Deep Blue ® Rub or Polyphenol because, well, they’re amazing. And the same could be said about the other oils that I’ve listed above, but the one that stands out for me, of all these oils that I work into my daily routine, perhaps the one that has been most life changing for me is, most recently, Serenity ®. The reason for this is – real life alert – my mom was recently hospitalized and later passed not 2 weeks into her admition to hospital. She was relatively healthy and busy as can be. Three days before her hospitalization, she began radiation treatment for cancer and the prognosis was very positive. Unfortunately, she suffered several seemingly unrelated strokes that would eventually end her beautiful life. We were able to spend some time with her in hospital while we waited for her to pass. During this time, I took the opportunity to connect with my mom as she lay in her hospital bed. This is where Serenity ® comes into play – it was her favourite, as was Bergamot and Frankincense. My beautifully amazing and supportive partner, Laura, made a few roller bottles for my mom before she was hospitalized.

They were:

  • Serenity ® with a coconut carrier oil; and

  • Arborvitae, Bergamot, Frankincense and Lavender with a coconut carrier oil.

As my mom lay in her bed, seemingly unresponsive, I would rub both oils on her feet and chest, alternating between each oil every 30 minutes or so. While I did this, I would reminisce on all my childhood memories that my mom was a part of and feel gratitude for them. Even in terribly sad situations, we need to find gratitude in the experiences we’ve had and allow the tug of war emotions to occur. It was in these moments that I realized there was absolutely nothing I could do to help my mom. Or was there? I shifted my perspective and continued to rub these oils on mom’s feet – with the support of hospital staff I should add – and this allowed me to bond with my mom and work through the grief I was experiencing and will continue to experience for a lifetime I’m sure. She seemed to breathe more clearly and be less restless, and on occasion she even conjured up the strength to whisper “Bergamot”, “Serenity”, “I’m proud of you” and “I love you”. Something so simple as rubbing these oils on my superhero mom’s feet altered the situation into something beautiful, even if it was equally as terrible.

I love my mom and I am so thankful for that experience. Because of it, Serenity ® is my number one go-to. It reminds me of mom. And every time I apply it before bed, I close my eyes and it feels like she’s giving me one of her famous hugs that make you melt in her arms. And now, all I need to do to experience that feeling is have a bottle of Serenity ® on hand and close my eyes.

Here’s thinking of you mom. I love you.

Morning Oils:

  • On waking, I generally like to use two drops Balance on bottoms of feet.

  • Additionally, I add two drops On Guard to feet from September – April.

  • Brush teeth with OnGuard Toothpaste.

  • Bath or shower – ‘Must Haves’:  doTERRA shampoo and conditioner, Beautiful Body Mist

(Body Butter in winter months for the dryer patches on my skin).

  • After my shower, I use doTERRA Hand and Body Lotion with one drop tea tree and one drop geranium as my facial/neck moisturizer; and then I apply Deep Blue Lotion across my shoulders and lower back, and sometimes also my hips.  It provides super helpful topical support for my joints and muscles.

  • With breakfast, I take my first set of LLV (one of each), a digestive enzyme, and a veggie cap with one drop each of:  frankincense, turmeric, copaiba and yarrow pom. Over time, I have found this combo most helpful in managing my internal inflammation issues and keeping my muscle and joint pain under control.

  • I take all my supplements with water and one drop lemon or grapefruit to assist with detoxing.

  • For my computer work (from home), I set up my diffuser with peppermint and wild orange, or Motivate if I have it on hand.  I like to change it up once in a while. In cooler months, sometimes I choose On Guard. I like the additional exposure to this oil for its’ immune support benefits, and I find it both comforting and motivating at the same time.

Midday:

  • More water with lemon or grapefruit and second set of LLV (one of each) with my lunch.

  • I’m usually heading out to see clients in the afternoon.  I like to use Motivate or InTune on my aromatherapy bracelet, or in my car diffuser to keep me alert for the afternoon while I head to the office.

Evening/Dinner:

  • Digestive Enzyme and PB Assist with dinner meal.

  • Second veggie cap with one drop each of frankincense, turmeric, copaiba and yarrow pom.

  • Easy Air as cup inhale and across chest before I head to yoga, to open air ways and amplify my breath work.

  • I choose my night time oils for my diffuser in advance, and get it set up and ready to go, so I won’t forget or just be too plain tired to follow through.

  • I like the combo of two drops lavender and two drops cedarwood in my diffuser.

Bedtime:

  • I use Deep Blue Lotion again at bedtime to continue to assist with the management of my arthritis/inflammation symptoms.  It’s especially helpful if I have worked out in the evening.

  • Brush teeth with OnGuard toothpaste.

  • If I have a strong intuitive sense that I am wound up mentally from my day and I won’t settle well for a good night’s sleep, I also take a Serenity Capsule to assist my body/mind to wind down.

  • I put my diffuser on around 10:30 pm, and generally head to bed around 11:00 pm.  I have learned that it’s very beneficial to have the diffuser on for a good half hour in the bedroom before I actually head to bed.

TIPS:

Always in my purse:  ZenGest, Easy Air, doTERRA Lip Balm

Other Fave Oils I like to have on hand to support my emotional health and/or my meditation practice, depending on the day:

Forgive, Cedarwood/Clary Sage, ClaryCalm, Citrus Bliss, Serenity, Peace, Arborvitae.

I love my High Vibe Life!  Thank You doTERRA!

day-with-sophia.JPG

Lots has happened over the past couple of weeks that challenged my emotional health.  My grandma died suddenly and my dog Charlie who was 15 years passed away a week later.  I was sad, really sad. And sometimes even a little scared because who knows who might be next.  So I went to my oils! Console and cheer in a roller on my wrists and temples and Peace in the diffuser each and every night have been really helped over the past couple of weeks!

  • Daily I take the doTERRA kids chewables – my mom sneaks the Omega’s into a morning shake.

  • Then before heading out the door I brush my teeth with some OnGuard toothpaste.  Swipe some Steady on my wrists and if my mom catches me she will do a quick swipe of OnGaurd down my spine!

  • At school I always have Brave, I share it with my friends if they are ever feeling upset of bad after a difficult class as well as the OnGuard hand sanitizer that my mom swears keeps us all healthy!

  • I also keep my Rescuer blend on me for my shoulders and temples near the end of  a long school day.

  • After school lately my go to in the diffuser has been peace and it helps me to relax and make the transition from school to family time!

  • Showers before bed with the amazing spa body wash and doTERRA’s shampoo and conditioner followed by the hair serum my mom introduced me too! I do still love the doTERRA baby lotion after the shower – but I’m running low so I’m using  just a little and even hiding it from my little bro.

I love how oils can make me feel and I hope that every kid has the opportunity to give them a try!
